Website Privacy Statement
In short
This website is designed to minimise the collection of personal data. It sets no cookies, runs no advertising or cross-site tracking scripts, embeds no third-party content, and contains no contact form. When you visit the website, limited technical data, including your IP address, are processed automatically to deliver and secure the website and to produce basic visitor statistics through a self-hosted, cookie-free analytics system. That is a deliberate design decision, and it is why you are not being asked to accept anything.

MIC Energy Consulting GmbH is the controller of any personal data processed through this website, within the meaning of the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, where it applies, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
What the web server records
Like every web server, the machine that delivers these pages keeps a technical log of the requests it receives. Each entry contains the IP address of the visiting device, the date and time, the page or file requested, the HTTP status returned, the volume of data sent, and the browser and operating system as they announce themselves.
These logs are not used to identify anyone, are not combined with any other source, and are never used to build a profile. They are accessible only to the service providers identified below and exist solely to keep the site running and secure — to diagnose faults and to detect attacks and abuse. They are deleted automatically by the hosting provider after approximately thirty days for the access logs and seven days for the error logs.
The legal basis for temporarily retaining these logs is our legitimate interest in the secure and reliable operation of the website (Art. 31 FADP; Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Cookies
None. No cookie is set by this website, and no equivalent technology — local storage, session storage, browser fingerprinting or tracking pixel — is used. Nothing is written to your device, so there is nothing for you to consent to and no banner to dismiss.
Fonts, maps and other third-party content
The typefaces used on this site are served from the site’s own server. No request is made to Google Fonts or to any other external provider, so no third party learns that you visited this website. There are no embedded maps, videos, social media buttons or chat widgets.
Visitor statistics
We measure how often the pages of this site are read, using a self-hosted installation of Matomo. The installation is dedicated to this website — no other site shares it — and runs in Switzerland, on servers operated by Infomaniak Network SA in Geneva; the application itself is administered on our behalf by our web agency, Neuron-e Sàrl in Fribourg.
Matomo is configured without cookies. Before a visit is stored, the last two bytes of the IP address are discarded, and it is that shortened address that is also used to derive an approximate location. This substantially reduces the possibility of associating the information with an identifiable individual. No persistent visitor identifier is created: to group the pages of one visit, Matomo derives a short-lived configuration identifier from the browser’s own headers and the already-shortened address; it changes regularly and is not designed to recognize visitors over time. The underlying visit data are deleted after 180 days; anonymous aggregate reports produced from those data may be retained for longer. No data is shared with any advertising network and none is used for cross-site tracking.
The legal basis is our legitimate interest in understanding whether this site is useful (Art. 31 FADP; Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
If you write to us
This website has no contact form. If you send us an e-mail, your message, your address and anything you choose to include are processed so that we can reply and, where relevant, manage the business relationship that follows (Art. 31 FADP; Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR). E-mail enquiries are retained for as long as reasonably necessary to respond and deal with any follow-up. If an enquiry results in an engagement or otherwise forms part of records subject to statutory retention requirements, the relevant correspondence may ordinarily be retained for ten years.
Please note that ordinary e-mail is not necessarily encrypted end to end and may be read in transit. Do not send confidential information by e-mail without agreeing a secure route with us first.
Who else sees the data
Infomaniak Network SA in Geneva operates the servers that deliver this website and host its statistics, and therefore processes the technical logs on our instructions, in Switzerland, under a data processing agreement. Our web agency, Neuron-e Sàrl in Fribourg, administers the website and the statistics on our behalf and has access for that purpose, under the same conditions.
Infomaniak Network SA also provides our email service and processes messages sent to our company email address on our instructions. Neuron-e Sàrl does not have access to those messages.
Beyond that, no personal data covered by this Website Privacy Statement is disclosed, sold or transferred to other recipients, and the personal data processed through this website are processed in Switzerland and are not disclosed to recipients outside Switzerland.
Your rights
You may ask us what personal data we hold about you and request a copy of it, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, object to processing based on legitimate interest, and ask for processing to be restricted. Write to info@micenergyconsulting.com and we will answer within thirty days.
If you believe your data has been handled improperly you may complain to the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) in Bern. Where the GDPR applies to the processing of your personal data, you may also have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent data-protection supervisory authority in the European Union or European Economic Area.
Security
This website is served exclusively over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). The server is kept up to date by the hosting provider and backed up daily; the seven most recent daily backups are retained, after which they are overwritten in turn.
Changes to this policy
If what we do changes, this page changes with it. The version in force is always the one published here, with the date shown at its foot.
